measuring time with songs
« on: November 28, 2011, 11:54:58 AM »

I'm not sure if this is thread worthy and i have no problem deleting it if it's stupid, but i'll give it a try x)
It often happens to me, when i'm listening to ipod, that stuff happen the second a new song starts (or ends). But also, by approximately knowing how long the songs are, it helps me "measure" the time without actually checking what time it is.

for example. it usually takes me about a Metanoia to get to school. If I'm not in a hurry, than it takes me a bit longer- Siberian Breaks and It's Working or something like that.

Yesterday, I came on a bus station Someone's Missing too early x) .. and then waited for my friend for Congratulations and half of The Handshake.

does it ever happen to you? :)

This is a pretty sweet idea. Unfortunately I haven't taken much notice of these things yet. But I definitely will now. Haha. :)

YOU UNDERSTAND ME!
Haha but seriously I thought I was the only one who did this. Like I will force myself to do my homework or something and I'll be like "Ok, you will study for the whole of Metanoia and Siberian Breaks" and when they are over I stop. That may just be my excuse to be a lazy slacker, but at least it keeps things interesting.

 ;D Interesting thread!!
On the way to my college I always play their second album Congratulations. It's Working to I Found A Whistle gets me there and then Siberian Breaks to about Lady Dada's Nightmare gets me home....then as soon as I enter the door, I kid you not, Congratulations begins....Furkin' spookilicious...

I do the same thing sometimes, but I guess I think about it in a subliminal way. I will say when I drove across the country over the summer both MGMT albums and their other songs was all I played on a repeating loop, and it kept me sane considering I was doing 12.5 hour drives per day by myself. Now every time I listen to Metanoia I always think of my drive through southern Utah and northern New Mexico.

I do this at work all the time. "One Metanoia til I go on break!" "One Congratulations til I get to go home!"  ;D

it takes me a side one 'MGMT' to get to school and then a side two to get back home after (there's a bit more traffic on the drive back).

One "Metanoia" to shower

One "Flash Delirium" to dry off

One "Introspection" to get to the supermarket

About a run through and 3/4 of 'Congratulations' to make dinner

One "A Good Sadness" to travel into space
