I'm so glad you made this thread Kristina  ;D After hearing about their new single Vomit a few months ago I decided that I should check them out because I dismissed them as one of those "flash in the pan" indie bands with a hit single or two. I was so wrong! Christopher Owens (the other members are great obviously but his story and attitude is particularly inspiring) is on another level. The songwriting here is great.

I recently watched an interview with Chris whe he said that he wished he could write songs with ~beautiful metaphors that ~told stories but I think what he does is something truly special; the lyrics are so sincere and to the point, I hate to quote Pitchfork but this is so true "He sounds like that friend who always has problems he wants to tell you about, but he does so in such a pure and honest way that you always have time for him.".

By the way does anyone know where I could find 'Oh Boy' and 'Life In San Francisco' ?

But I was definitely the same way too. I remember telling my friend last night at the show how I actually used to hate Girls. This was like a year and a half ago. They would play Lust for Life on the radio and I'd make a face and ALWAYS change the station. "Fucking hipster shit music. Who actually listens to this?" is what I would always say (what the hell is wrong with me, right?). So I don't know what happened, but eventually, I think I just took the time to listen to one of their album one day for whatever reason and I felt bad for judging them instantly. And now I love Lust For Life, obvsly. ;D

Chris also handed me these after they were done.

The stage setup people put bouquets of flowers all over the band's microphones and instruments. I have no idea why. Maybe that's what they do at the 930 club. Anyway, the band threw them all out to crowd and Chris took his off his microphone stand and handed it to me, smiled and then walked off stage all while I was like "O_O" and then I turned to my friend and flipped a shit like a 12 year old girl fangirling over Biebz. The drummer for PAPA handed my friend his bouquet and he was super nice and attractive, so we were both flipping shits like two giddy school girls.

I found out about them cause they're friends with Smith Westerns and I downloaded the Broken Dreams Club EP and was really looking forward to the new album but I can't get into it... for now.

I am in "lust" with Girls. I like how Chris O. was in Holy Shit with Ariel Pink too (more indie artist connections in effect).

There's a really nice quote by him about how singers "act" with their voices, which is why he sounds sort of whiny and snooty in "Lust for Life." Adorable.

Snoozer is really the best when it comes to music publications. I haven't seen any other magazine like it. It has durable matte pages, and it's really thick. Not to mention, about 96% of the musicians are the ones I like studying and doing research about. I am beginning to sound like an advertisement.

Yes, Chris-themed wallpapers are highly encouraged! I'd make a shrine, but that is verging on psychotic stalker.

I wonder if it would even be possible to get Snoozer in America, because I would so do it. But if you make a shrine to Chris, I totally won't judge you because I'm making a mini shrine around those flowers he handed me XD I can't even. I don't think I've ever squealed and fangirled so much in my life. But at least I did it when the band wasn't around to see me be a creep ;)

hasn't been posted in forever but i guess this is worth because

they're pretty much DONE!

chris just tweeted that he's leaving the band and although i hate the disrespect everyone elses commitments to the band i think i'd be pretty justified in saying that he is the life and soul of this project.
how disappointing, i'm so glad that i got to see them recently  :(
