Hey, that's an amazing list.  Well done.
I read somewhere that R.E.M. is one of their inspirations on their upcoming third album...

Well thank you.  As for R.E.M. - Andrew mentioned that in his interview to Intercourse Magazine recently.  I know Andrew has said he was star struck when he met Michael Stipe.  However, I have doubts that he actually meant all the songs were inspired solely by them.

By the way, nice reactionary faces lala and Daisy ;D

At Estereo Picnic last night MGMT covered Bubble Puppy's Hot Smoke and Sassafras as well as an Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark song called Electricity.  I love them both, but there is something about covering Electricity that suits them so well.  Maybe it's that it showcases their range and talent.  Their choices of what to cover never disappoints me.

MGMT - Hot Smoke and Sasafrass (Bubble Puppy Cover) @ Festival Estťreo Picnic 2012

MGMT - Electricity (Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark Cover) @ Festival Estťreo Picnic 2012

The opening sounds A LOT like 'it's working.'
Andrew said he was listening to this band while writing Congratulations:

I can hear a little of the resemblances.  I think it even goes back to Oracular Spectacular too.

Interview with Andrew http://www.albino.mx/blog/?p=4885

What was the last CD you bought?
CD? Mm, Iíve definitely downloaded some illegal things lately, hahaha

Illegal, huh?
Hahaha yes. Iím not sure why Iím smiling. But the last CD was, what was it I bought? Oh! I bought a very good vinyl collection of Faust The Faust Tapes called. Itís really good.

What is your biggest musical influence?
We have many, and I dont think thereís specific band that is the greater influence, but Iím definitely influenced by Arthur Lee of Love, the 60s band, and I think Suicide, Alan Vega and Martin Rev are in my top two.

Did Warpaint ever play a show with MGMT? I remember hearing something about that. I'm not talking about the quote in NME magazine.

Hmm, not that I can recall.  Anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong though.

Keep up the good work FoH - I don't get the chance to come on here too often these days but always have a look at this thread when I do as I usually get to hear another new piece of music which would have otherwise passed me by.

I think I know what you're talking about.  I remember reading about Andrew's reaction (and subsequently the famous quote).  I am thinking that it was a festival where he had a chance to check them out.

Maybe Lolla 2010?  I thought of that-it's possible.  They weren't on my radar then so I didn't see them.  I fell in love with them a couple of months later.  Story of my life.
