I would love to see them play the Buskirk-Chumley Theater in Bloomington, IN. It's a small, intimate venue which I think would fit perfect with MGMT's sound and style of performance.

Morganton NC or somewhere near.....just seen them in Asheville at Moogfest and I would really love to see them when it would be a smaller crowd of people. To many people were there that had No clue what Awesome band they were listing to.

MGMT really need to come and play in Newfoundland, Canada. When I met them at the show in Montreal in August, I mentioned that's where I'm from and they would like to get around to playing here. I love MGMT and if I could see them in my hometown instead of spending alot of $$$ to see them in bigger cities would be a dream come true!!!

I don't know much about venues, I've only been to a little amount of shows compared to a lot of other people... but, some small venue in NY would be really nice! Though, Radio City Music Hall was special for me, I was so upset that it was in such a large place. It's harder for me to travel outside NY for a more personal area due to my own issues, but, being that we heard they wont tour US for a while, I'm sure this will change in the future :)

I always post such long posts :(

Jacksonville's not as crappy as it seems, it'd be delightful if they played. A venue called Freebird Live would do the trick, I believe. I'd certainly be grateful. :)

The Electric Factory in Philadelphia, PA. It's a great venue, similar to The Lyric Oxford in setup and general vibe, larger in both balcony and floor size though. So far all the concerts I have been to have been a great experience, responsive crowds, general extraordinary event. And after the concert you can tell everyone had a good time, people singing and dancing as they exit the venue :D

That would be great!

Le Bikini, Toulouse (the coolest city in France  8))  South West, 3 hours away from Barcelona and 3 hours away from Biarritz.
The venue can welcome between 400 and 1500 people.

That place is really cool! In spring/summer the bar is open on the swimming pool, there's also a restaurant. It's a really great venue, not to big, good atmosphere, I've always had great moments there!

Koengen in Bergen, Norway.

Atrists like Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Neil Young, Black Sabbath, Coldplay, Muse, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, The Eagles, R.E.M,  Eric Clapton, Metallica, Sting, Kiss, Deep Purple, Elton John, has all played there in the last few years, so, as you can see, it would only be right if MGMT played there as well.  ;D

Or even better: Ole Bull Scene  :)

I would love to see them playing in La Laiterie, Strasbourg, France again.
Or in Germany, but in the south west like I told Andrew to play there.
I just mentioned

Freiburg (venue maybe Rothaus Arena (it isn't that big as it sounds) or Jazzhaus)

but Stuttgart (LKA Longhorn or Kultur- und Kongresszentrum Liederhalle would fit perfectly for MGMT) or

Karlsruhe (Substage) would also be cool.   ;)

In parking lots.

In big trucks (or wagons? idk, gypsy-style).

On a trampoline (if that's possible and do-able and not just a dumb fancy.)

On deserted desert roads.

Oh no Olympia would be a terrible show. It's way too big and the sound quality sucks...
And Toulouse would be nice but maybe in a town closer to the sea... idk. Just sayin'

Nop I live in Paris that's why I know Olympia doesn't suit every band and it surely woudn't sound great if MGMT performed there.
haha and i've never even been to Biarritz. No I was just thinking it would be nice... somewhere near the sea.

Montreal was ok...I wasn't crazy about the venue as I think they oversold the concert.  I saw them at the Mod in Toronto which was more intimate and it was unbelievable! The music hit me like laser beam...I hope I can see them like that again.

St. Louis, at the Pageant would be a perfect venue.  It would be alot like the riviera in chicago.  Which was absolutely amazing might i add.

I saw them in Asheville which is so close for me, and it's where I met Andrew so there's some sentimental value there haha. ANYWHERE in Tennessee again would be great!! I missed them at Ryman and I've been kicking myself ever since.

No way, I have family in Bristol. I'm in Johnson City. It's nice to know another fan lives so close :)

I know the feeling. Seems like not too many people around here are fans, they just start freaking out whenever they hear "Kids" play and say "I LOVE THIS SONG!" Haha. Good to know there's another fan 25 minutes from me!

I definitely want them in Belarus or Russia as i've already mentioned. The Ukraine is good too. I mean those countries are as rare as Indonesia or Kuala Lumpur as long as you probably google them.

I guess MGMT will come but only when they are old and i am old and even my children are not interested in such kind of music. =)

Hmm... outdoor festies are my fav.  I'd love to see them in their neck of the woods in CT.

GOTV (Gathering of the Vibes) in Bridgeport would be a decent setting, low key and less messy than a Bonnaroo.  Prolly more drugs, too.   8)

I'd really appreciate another swing around Canada - these two venues in particular would be kewl :

I don't know if they usually give concerts in small towns, but there's this kind of smallish town in the south of Portugal, Évora, which is culturally amazing and it's a really chill out place. It has a pretty big arena, and though it seems almost impossible for them to come here, I think it'd be amazing :}

In an attempt to make myself look slightly less ridiculous, when I first read lala's reply about inviting me to some sort of show, that's all I got out of it...if I had paid attention to words like "forum party" and "back forty" (i may be paraphrasing)...I wouldn't have failed so hard.  That's what I get for not reading thoroughly.  Go me!

I'd really like to see them play at a smaller venue in New York City. The only US touring they've been doing is California, and quite frankly, I'm getting very upset since I am coming up on my 1 year anniversary since seeing them at Radio City.
I hope they can play a secret show here and there.

^THIS!

Im only going to be able to make it to Outside Lands this year and it will be my first time seeing them yet Im still so excited that they added two other shows because the places and venues they're going to seem to be really intimate and don't seem to be places that are well known for bands to go to. I could be totally off in that analysis, but if Im accurate it's one of the many reasons why I love these guys so much. They go above and beyond for their fans.

Also, I know they seem to play in Cali a lot but I don't think a lot of people realize how big California really is. I can't attend the majority of their shows here because it's such a long drive for me and I live in Cali!

I bet when they start writing and creating more for the new album NYC will probably get a lot of awesome shows..The boys love their fans so I have no doubt they will probably do more impromptu shows and what not.

Sara I'm so excited that you finally get to see them! Yeah, Cali is HUGE, Outside Lands would be about a 9 hour drive from where I live in SoCal. It was closer for me to drive from Illinois to Memphis Tenn. and I thought that was a long drive just to see a concert! ;D

I am only 13 and therefore do not have a lot of opportunities to go to these "secret shows." Which is why I'd like them to play another all ages show in NYC, just at a smaller venue! :)

I would love to see them play at the Tabernacle in Atlanta, GA. If they have in the past I totally missed it. It's a great , intimate venue with no  bad space to be in to view the stage, in my opinion. Though that may be because I have generally been in pretty good spots each show I've been to there. Great venue for meeting the bands following a show because of the ease of access to the tour buses.

Ah, that explains why I was unaware of their show in Atlanta. I was out of the country between September and January. No worries though, I'm sure they'll be back. In the meantime I will just continue catching their shows at the various festivals they play at since one of my favorite things to is travel around to music and arts festivals whenever I can. Saw them at Sunfest must recently and looking forward to their show in sf next month.

I wish they would join the music midtown lineup in september here in atlanta. That would be fabulous. At least I'll get to see the Black Keys twice within a one-ish month span. They are freaking fantastic, too.

Frontier Days in Cheyenne, Wyoming. It's an annual rodeo/carnival/concert event that starts in a couple days. I know it's impossible for them to do it this year, and I doubt it would ever happen but really the line-up this year, like last years, sucks ass: Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow, Motley Crue, and a bunch of country acts. If by some miraculous kindness they ever did play here it could be renamed Frontier Daze. :D

I know you where Just here but boy do I have a story for you.

My friends sister absolutely loves your band. She waited in the SoCal heat for over 5 hours to get a seat up front for your Surf Open show. During your opening act a mosh pit broke out and she was badly trampled. She was dragged out of there and brought to medical attention. She didn't even get to see your show! She is heartbroken!

I know your other show on wednesday is sold out. So I was wondering... since I know its not feasible to ask for another SoCal show just for her. Maybe you could do an acoustic performance over a video chat like stickam or something. Maybe even make it a private chat which you can hold a contest to get entry too.

I don't know just hearing one song from you guys would make her day. Let me know!

Santiago, Chile. There's a very small venue called Galpón Victor Jara, I've been there a few times with my cousin's band and I doubt you can fit more than a couple hundred people in there. The only bad thing is that it's closed, I'm not sure we have cool places that look like a backyard (such as Henry Miller Library)... except for my own backyard, which is cool, small, and perfect for a garden tea party. Another one I can think of is Teatro La Cúpula, I saw The Killers there in march this year and it's a fine place for about a thousand people. There's also Teatro Caupolicán (I've been there like three times, it's a larger venue, for about five thousand people), and the largest one I know would be Arena Santiago, but that's even larger (I saw Regina Spektor playing a fantastic show last year in that place). So :)?

I would LOVE to see them playing in Brazil again, probably Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo. But they took so long to come at the first time, I don't believe they're coming soon, so I'll have to move to NYC next year. Thanks MGMT ♥

Hello All  :)
I hope you are all well.  Does anyone by chance know if MGMT or any members will be performing (or DJ'ing the Roller Rink hehe) for the first weekend of Coachella 2012 (April 13-15 2012)?
Bought tickets in hopes to see MGMT there.
Wish you all a wonderful day and if you are in Southern California, hope you are enjoying the rain and clouds as much as I am!

I'd rather they didn't, mainly because Reading crowds can be full of dicks. They'd suit somewhere like Latitude a lot more.

I'd be surprised if they go for larger venues on the next tour, but I wouldn't rule it out.  It's not their desire to do that, but the label certainly has some input.  They sell out pretty quickly so we'll just have to see.  Each time I've seen them in an intimate setting, I always think that it'll be the last time, but then I'm proved wrong.

I really hope that they play somewhere a lil smaller next time they come here but I am doubtful. I've seen them at Shepherd's Bush Empire in 2008 and Brixton Academy in 2010. Shepherd's Bush has a 2000 capacity and Brixton has an almost 5000 capacity. I know that before I saw them at Shepherd's Bush they also played Heaven (home of G-A-Y) which is a 1,850 capacity.

Both times were good but I would just love to see them in a smaller venue although unfortunately I think that whoever books these gigs has the view that just because they can sell something out means that they should. Both times I've been to the Electric Ballroom (1100) it has been good, it's smaller but not super, super small so I'd like to see them there. Hopefully if they come back to England (ok, London) to promote the new album they can do a more intimate gig a la Flo/Arcade Fire at Hackney Empire (1275 capacity). I wouldn't mind them playing Hammersmith Apollo but my worst nightmare is that they'll play Alexandra Palace which ranges from 2,500 to 10,400 capacity, can be overpriced and is very very far away...

Although they probably get on that album first  ::)

Pffft, you and your London-centric view. I quite like Ally Pally.

Unless the 3rd album shoots up their popularity, I'd expect them to play Brixton again. Maybe Forum if they wanted somewhere different.

And they played Heaven earlier in the year before Brixton in '10, not Shep Bush in '08 I thought.

The smallest I've seen them in was Manchester Academy 2, which is about 800 I think. I doubt I'll get a chance to see them play somewhere of that size again. Mind you, the smallest I'd seen the Foos until last summer was about 50,000 and then I saw them at the Roundhouse, which is about 5,000 so you never know. Some bands like to play small warm up shows at places like Dingwalls in Camden, especially if they've just come over from the US.

The first time I saw them was Minglewood in Memphis....sold out, 1500.  We were one row back from the barrier and most of the people there had never ever heard Kids.  I knew every song front and back and I kept thinking-they're going to blow up, we'll never see them like this again.
Footnote:  I posted the first videos of Congratulations, It's Working, and Dan Treacy

My next show was a private show in DC with 500 people-we were on the barrier dead in front of Andrew.  The third show was a full blown Congratulations show.  It was at the Riviera in Chicago, again on the barrier.  It was 2500, sold out with Tame Impala.  This show is storied because it was agreed to be one of the best shows they've ever done.

Next was The House of Blues in Chicago.  Not sold out because they were up against Lady Gaga and The Strokes playing at Lolla.  We were up front and this show is storied for many reasons....including the first time they played Indie Rokkers, at our request.

My point is, you just never fucking know.

I agree that you never know for sure, but general band trends tend to increase up to a point until the band reaches the zenith of their popularity. Especially an American band over here.

Paige is luckier in one sense as she's a London-ite. If they do throw in smaller club shows, they tend to be down there.

BTW, I'm not complaining here, just talking about it. I've been more than lucky enough to see this band plenty of times in smallish venues and, like you, have fun stories to remember them by. If i never see them again, I wouldn't feel hard done by. There's loads of people out there who haven't been lucky enough to see them once yet.

You guys are so lucky  :'(
I really think I want to def catch all NY shows, but, I'd REALLY love to see them outside of it.
I mean, I expect big venues for NY all the time :/

I still have yet to see them front row  :'( :'(
I mean... I danced on the stage at Jimmy Fallon LOL but that doesn't count!!!!!!!!
NEED to see them in a smaller venue. Borgata was AMAZING :']
I need to go to more shows!

Actually just checked and you're right, they played the Forum in 2008 which has a 2,450 capacity which is actually more than Shepherd's Bush, odd. Either of those is fine for me then  ;D

Kay so there's this new thing I ran into
it's a free festival in Brooklyn
"Great Googa Mooga"
HIGHLY doubt anything, but, It would be so amazing!
The producers (or something like that) from Bonnaroo and Outside Lands are making this one.
I would DIE.

I hope they come back to Mountain Park in Massachusetts. During the end of Siberian Breaks, there was a meteor shower and Andrew made them turn down the lights so we could try to see it.  It was the perfect place for an MGMT concert.

Wow- that sounded like a wonderful time. What better choice of music to accompany a meteor shower! Synchronicity at its best!

I really would like to see them play in Tampa, Florida sometime! Some clubs like the Ritz in Ybor would be cool so I don't have to travel upstate everytime a decent musician comes down here lol
Roger Waters was in Orlando a couple of weeks ago it's a shame I couldn't see him due to distance and I don't want that to happen w/ MGMT :/

It's been a while since the band played in Oklahoma.  'Twas back in 2008 when they opened for Beck at Cain's. I'll never forget that show, but it seems like MGMT has forgotten about Oklahoma. Yeah yeah people are a bit backwards here. Voting to abolish DHS, lowering property taxes while taking funding away from public schools, and banning affirmative action when the state's clearly not ready are among a few examples of ass backwardsness in OK. It's also a bit boring here. There are loyal fans here that'll take their asses a few hours to Dallas to see you,  but would just love to see the band grace their homeland. I'd love to see the band play in Norman, music town of Oklahoma/home of the Norman music fest! I LOVE this band, and would follow them antywhere really!

I'd love to see them play at Manchester in the UK.  :)

They did, 26th September 2010 (or 09/26 if you are reading this in the US!)- the behaviour of the crowd was a f**king disgrace and James had to leave the stage during the set so I hope they don't return to Manchester if they include the UK in a future European tour. For anyone reading from outside the UK Manchester is a bleak, run-down town in a desolate part of our otherwise beautiful country....

Please add a Detroit, Michigan show to the summer tour doesn't matter where.  Last time you played at the Fillmore in 2010.  I am going up there to visit friends and family and am waiting for this date to plan my trip.  Also, I know your already playing Grand Rapids, Michigan but if you come back play The Orbit Room it's a cool place and would be awesome for a show.  Last come back to Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, Florida.  I missed this show last time and would love to see them there the acoustics are amazing!

You guys REALLY need to stop by NEWFOUNDLAND, CANADA, AKA THE MOST EASTERLY POINT OF NORTH AMERICA. This island is beautiful but it SUCKS being isolated from the rest of Canada, North America, and pretty much everywhere else. The only way to get off the island is by boat or plane, and i've already flown out of here to see you guys twice! We may be our own little republic but we have a really strong music & arts community here, i'm willing to bet the best in Canada. There are so many independent musicians here doing their own thing, and everyone knows each other. I would describe our scene as "STYLZ UNLIMITED ;)".

Please, if ANYONE from the band or associated with them sees this, do your best to try and make your way to Newfoundland! It would make a great little stop for a gig if your heading over across the pond ;) Not to mention experiencing the strip of bars/pubs on the oldest street in North America. My family actually runs one of the best Irish Pubs in North America (According to MacLeans ;)) and we would love to screech you in as honorary Newfoundlanders!

I realize you guys have recently been to Canada, and our Country as a whole is beautiful. But I really feel you guys would connect with Newfoundland out of every other Province. We are pretty underrated in comparison to the rest of Canada, just like the wonderful music you guys make. See? There's a connection already. Get here soon, guys. I promise you it'll be worth your time.

WOW I just remember that I wrote it as soon as this thread were opened

... and they come to the Olympia next week! Very nice  :-*

They should add a date in France, even in Paris, only one is not enough, it's already sold-out for a long time.

California please. Fox theatre in Riverside- intimate venue. Not tooo, but just enough.
It's 40 min from LA, 20 min from the OC. Located sowntownm by " The Mission Inn" where many presidents and starlets have stayed-many Gardens, Water Features, Fountains, Terraces, secret pathways.... things you'd see in a castle.
Have i sold you on it yet? :p

Thanks for your response lala. You are thinking fox theatre in Pomona. I was referring to the recently opened Fox theatre in Riverside. It's about 30 minutes from Pomona.

Oh wow that's got to be super confusing!  I can't imagine how many people are going to show up at the wrong theatre :(

Reminds me of a funny story.  Last year I was seeing American Idiot (the National Broadway Tour).  There were two guys outside desperately trying to sell their tickets.....because, you guessed it.  They thought they were seeing Green Day.

Either "Fox Theatre" is fine.. just tossing the idea into the Universe.
