Now that I've heard the new songs live I'm definitely ready for this thing to come out! ;D

^I completely agree!!

http://tdawgsmittyy.tumblr.com

I just uploaded the MGMT part on my page. let me know if it is readable!

I haven't read it yet, but it's totally readable!

Thanks for linking us :)

OOoh, I've read it now and:

1.  Interesting info on Cool Song #2 -- I'm excited to hear it!
2.  Ben makes the album sound real meaty.
3.  Love the mutual admiration between Tame Impala and MGMT.  I feel like I can already see a bit of Tame Impala's influence on their live show.  I always love how Tame Impala is constantly rearranging their music to create a new experience every time they perform and I think that MGMT is starting something similar by going off on jam tangents.

I'm overall just happy for them since they seem much more confident and comfortable this time around.

I feel like after reading that, they're not making "excuses" about what they're putting out with this album.  What I mean by that is that I feel in the past, we didn't really know what to expect, answers about new albums were all over the place.

This album feels comfortable already.  I like that.

(Then again, I could be completely wrong.  And that's perfectly fine.)

God bless "obscure and challenging!"  I'm excited about the whole "headphone album" thing.  That's how I fell in love with them in the first place.  I suspect to me, the album will sound a lot like the first two, even better.

I'd like a list of the drugs this writer was on

What a great, long interview! i suspect this will be unlike anything we've ever heard from MGMT, and likely half of it will be the weird electronic jam sessions we've been hearing so much of. Which is okay, because no matter how it turns out I love the new songs they've been playing live. What gets me really excited is how after recording this album, they felt ready to record a whole new album of fun pop music. This was almost like the practise they needed to get into the groove of their roots. Its so cool to hear them talk about it, they seem kind of uneasy with themselves and their music, and their differing opinions on music. It's so interesting to see because everyone feels like that, especially about art. Also surprsed how freely Andrew mentions acid... i hope that doesnt become a defining point for people to talk about. BUt who cares anyway. Maan i cant wait for the life is a lie video and recording!!!!!!!!

It says, "VanWyngarden, the band's lyricist, says they stayed 'pretty clean' for the recording sessions, though he did come up with the lyrically dark Your Life Is A Lie while tripping hard on acid by a fire."
