I read this a couple days ago but I didn't think they were telling the truth but I guess so. Yay!! That means a new album comes out in maybe 2011! But the article also said that the record company didn't really like congratulations which stinks because I love it. I wonder if they'll put Dancing on the Beach on the new album...

I can clear up that the articles saying that the record co didn't like Congratulations were pure bullshit.  I wouldn't count on 2011...our boys are perfectionists who turn out perfection...and I'd be stunned if the put Dancing on the Beach on the album just because they are always moving forward.

Whoa that's like The Velvet Underground! There third album was in fact self titled!!! I LOVE MGMT AND THE VELVET UNDERGROUND AND VARIOUS OTHER ARTISTS INCLUDING THE BEATLES, SYD BARRETT/PINK FLOYD, AND THE BEACH BOYS.

Britney Spears' third album was self titled.

This made me laugh very hard for some reason.

Edit: Okay, I just read your signature and that made me laugh even harder!

I agree, I don't expect to see a complete album until MAYBE sometime in 2012. I'm not a songwriter but if it's anything like creating a piece of visual art, it takes time. It's something that can't be rushed, I always hated deadlines and that's why I hate almost all of my pieces from college. But who knows they could already be cooking something up! 8)

Yeah, I'm a songwriter and it does take time. Even if you have a billion pieces to make into a song, you have to figure out where to put them, and when to repeat the pieces; if ever.
Then there's the 'Does this guitar bit fit the vocals? Is the bass conflicting with the keys? Are the drums too predictable?' etc.
I wouldn't expect an album in '11. If one did come out by then, I would be genuinely confused.

I think MGMT should have me, shabana and cerque do a collaborative piece for the album cover/ jacket. 8) I think it would be awesome to have something done by fans.
