Right. I was reading a bit online before posting that and I found out that he sometimes sits down with professional songwriters but other times he's not involved at all. (Look here if you're interested.)

There isn't even one song where he's listed as the only writer. I'm roughly his age and I do write my own songs; it's not that he's too young. I'm not really sure why he doesn't, actually, unless he's not a good writer, in which case he shouldn't really have a record in the first place. (In my opinion, of course.)

I think he writes songs but I guess they didn't make the cut, didn't think they were good enough for the album. You should post videos on youtube, maybe you'll have the same luck as him! 8)

I have a friend who is about to sign a deal...her first demo was all stuff written by established, road tested writers.  She has loads of her own stuff, but it's tough to get labels to take a risk on young songwriters.  She's starting to record her stuff now.  She's 14.
