I'm surprised at myself for not already starting a thread on them.
So you all know I friggin' love this band. Band members are Wayne Coyne (frontman), Steven Drozd (multi-instumentalist), Michael Ivins (bassist), and Kliph Scurlock (drummer).
They've been around since 1983, and they have 13 albums (including their cover of Dark Side of the Moon).
Personally, my favorite albums of theirs are Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots and Clouds Taste Metallic, but I do love all of them.
I've met Wayne and Kliph before. Wayne twice, Kliph twice/three times. I don't know if you count when he waves to you and you just say "hey Kliph!" as meeting him. But they're both really sweet. My mom has met all of them, and she runs Steven Drozd's website.
I spent almost 24 hours of the three days I was in Oklahoma at the convention center where the '09/'10 New Years Eve show was being held, about 45 minutes to an hour of that time was sitting. My mom, some friends (old and new), the Flaming Lips crew, and myself blew up about 4000 balloons in most of that time, and the rest was spent watching soundcheck and during that actual concert. It was great getting to help out and hanging out with the band was spectacular. Some of the most memorable times of my life.
So, how many of you like The Flaming Lips? Favorite albums? Show reviews? Please share.
I'll be back to post pictures of the band later.
