Because they were probably on a deadline and skimped on the research/double-checking, coupled with the likelihood that the writer's not an MGMT fan.

I just can't fathom that this garbage goes to print every day.  The mistakes are so rampant and words are so twisted it makes me not trust anything I read.

I know. It's really annoying. It looks like they have a problem with rushing when it comes to editing or something.
