NEW/OLD ANIMAL COLLECTIVE RELEASE ON RECORD STORE DAY 2012, TEXT IT

The music on this 12” is a collage we made consisting of the original tracks, as well as live recordings made inside the Guggenheim before the doors were opened to the public. It will be the only physical format on which any of the music will be released. Coinciding with Record Store Day, we will also launch a website which will contain an audio player that recreates the computer program designed for the Guggenheim event. This will give listeners a new and unique collage each time the program is run. Danny Perez, who created the artwork for this 12”, will also create video content for the website consisting of footage from, and projections used in the original event.

Apparently it's $15 and also includes an mp3 download card.

A poster on Collected Animals went to an art exhibition in Brooklyn where they were DJing last night and he says:

I spoke to Avey and Deakin tonight. They said the album is recorded and ready to be mixed. They're going for a mid-September release.

last year i waited hours for the ltd edition tomboy lp but the store i was at didn't stock any  however this year the animal collective 12" isn't being released any other way (the pb lp was just a clear vinyl version of the album that was already being sold) and animal collective are bigger than panda bear himself (i suppose although person pitch was really popular) so i think there will be a better chance of them stocking it  + there are 5000 copies being pressed

Oh, derp. Why am I so slow today? I knew there was somewhere to check what stores ('cause again, I did it for Congrats haha)
So... the one by my house def does. But, they screwed me over last time so I'm not too sure about going there
But, this is very cool! I'm definitely aiming to buy a copy, no matter what.

there has been no news on the new album or any hints at all lately. they are currently scheduled to play 4 shows in the future

june 2nd - taicoclub, japan
july 12 - colours of ostrava, czech republic
july ? - heineken balaton sound, hungary
september 23 - hollywood bowl, california, USA (this is the only solo show)

guess we've just got to sit tight and wait

ok here goes a double post 

well they have now finished the album. back in January/February they spent a considerable time recording it at Sonic Ranch in El Paso, Texas with Ben Allen. last week they regrouped with Ben Allen for a 8 day mixing session at his own Maze Studio in Atlanta.

Ben Allen tweeted this picture of them out at dinner afterwards.


This is definitely going to be the hardest part of waiting because all the major decisions will be going on behind closed doors, really all there is to do is wait! I have a feeling that they could surprise us with more tour dates though?
