Funzone preorder Info

Whether you are are a current Funzone Member or have been waiting for your chance to join, here's the preorder info.  It is slated to ship around Oct. 30 and this year you get an exclusive Tshirt.  If you haven't ordered the third album yet, you can bundle, and current funzone members can enjoy a bundle featuring a physical album, an immediate YLIAL download and an album download on September 17.  The discount code is in your email inbox.

Note:  This is the same whether you are renewing or you are a first time Funzone member.  The only difference is that current members receive a discount.

The purchase of the Funzone 2.0 Package gives you a subscription to MGMT’s fan club, The Funzone. Your membership will begin at the time your order is placed and will be valid for 1 year.

Fan club members will be treated to special privileges, like exclusive access to tour pre-sales internationally and other benefits at select shows. Perks will vary depending on the show and venue, but could include early entry to the concert, access to tickets that open up close to the day of show, and other similar advantages. Members will also be included in exclusive contests/giveaways. The Funzone 2.0 Package contains a membership card with your join date on it as well as exclusive merch items - a fanzine, vinyl die-cut Funzone Logo sticker, Funzone Logo t-shirt printed on American Apparel

Here's the dilemma of having to choose which option you want with the discount code and getting the new funzone...

1) Order the funzone and vinyl together to get a bundle discount and funzone discount but get the vinyl at the end of October
2) Order the funzone and vinyl separately but then lose out on the bundle discount
3) Order just the funzone and get the vinyl on amazon but then don't get to use either discount

Why oh why is ordering from Amazon way cheaper than using the discount code?  I'm talking $10 cheaper.  Basically the discount code didn't save you anything.  Kind of disappointing but I'm moving on.   I think I will just get the vinyl at a local record store.

We're actually waiting to get a call back from merchandising to get clarification of ship date on the album.

Lovely.  I'm just sitting here with like 8 tabs open trying to decide what to do and wondering who would want to wait until October 30th for the vinyl.

I think I decided to just order the funzone since the discount works for that anyway and just get the vinyl at a record store.

Yes, this shirt is much better than the previous one they gave out at shows.

So I'm showing that Funzone is $24.99 BEFORE discount and Amazon is $25.36 for the vinyl??

Yeah, the vinyl through kungfu even with the discount is $32.34 with shipping and through Amazon it's $34.34 if you had it arrive on the day it was released.  I'm either getting it at a record store for way cheaper or using my friends Amazon Prime for free 2 day shipping which would have it at my house on release day for $25.  Kind of a no brainer.

The only way the funzone discount would benefit anyone is if they shipped out the vinyl to arrive on release day and then shipped the funzone package later.

I should know the answer to that soon.  I received Congratulations 5 days prior to the release date by ordering through the band's merch site.  That's worth a few bucks for me.

Im totes getting the vinyl Funzone package. In my opinion, it was well worth it last time with all the free merch and my pre-sale code got me front row tickets...The website does say everything will be shipped later, but you'll still get a download of the album the day of the release. Well worth it in my opinion. Plus, it's the band's merch site! Win/win! :)

Yes, I agree!  As long as I have the download on the 17th, I have no problem waiting for the physical copy.  I'd almost consider doing the funzone and the album separately if it's not going to ship on the 12th just because I'd have it in my grubby paws before the 17th potentially  ;D

As always, I'm all about supporting MGMT as a business in any and every way possible.  I'm not going to fret over a dollar or two.

I'm tempted but the costs for postage are almost as much as the package itself and I'm not sure I can justify that.  :-\

Yeah, that does suck.  It's a shame they aren't able to work out different ship centers around the planet since this is such a global band.

To be fair, there's not that many bands that do, I can only think of a handful that have a service like that which is set up for loads of different shipping centres. So I can't blame 'em for not.

So just to follow up on this....I purchased the bundle and I'm paying for the shipping on the CD separately.  This is because I did it wrong.

Here's what they emailed me:

If you placed 1 order for the Funzone 2.0 and the CD, it will ship together in October. There is a note on the bundle page that reads: "Please note, this is a preorder. This bundle and any items ordered with it will ship on or near October 30th. If you would like your MGMT (The Album) CD or LP shipped to allow for delivery by the release date, September 17th, please place 2 separate orders for the Funzone 2.0 and the MGMT (The Album) CD or LP. Make a note in the Special Instructions & Order Comments section of the checkout page that you placed 2 separate orders and would like the bundle prices applied and we will issue you a refund."

This is a dumb question: Seeing that Funzone 2.0 is still marked as "Pre-order" on the site, is it safe to assume that presale benefits for upcoming shows go into effect immediately?

For those of you who have purchased Funzone 2.0 and are wondering about Friday's presale for the North American tour, there will be an announcement tomorrow.

I'm looking for clarification on what 9:30am local time means.  Does that mean people on the east coast can buy earlier than the west coast or does that mean 9:30 EST?  I'm thinking the later but still.

Presale is Friday at 9:30 for Funzone.  If you don't have funzone, check ticketmaster or the venue for on sale dates.  Most of those are next Friday or Saturday.

note:  mgmt website states 10:00 for presale, funzone email says 9:30

My venue doesn't even have this show up yet on their website so I'm hoping my presale will be next friday, I don't go to work until 11am so it's perfect. If it's this friday I'll have to sneakily do it at work. :P

Your venue may not have a presale-not all do.  Funzone has presale for every venue, but that's a limited amount of tickets.  If you are signed up for presale notifications for a particular venue (some have them, some don't), then you should receive an email from the venue with the presale code.  Some venues just go straight to public sale.  My experience has been that venue presales are not typically good seats.

For those of you who have purchased Funzone 2.0 and are wondering about Friday's presale for the North American tour, there will be an announcement tomorrow.

i didn't purchase the fun zone. I am assuming presale will be a week or two away for me
Presale is Friday at 9:30 for Funzone.  If you don't have funzone, check ticketmaster or the venue for on sale dates.  Most of those are next Friday or Saturday.

note:  mgmt website states 10:00 for presale, funzone email says 9:30

I purchased the funzone 2.0 when it became available. How do I get a code for the pre-sale on Friday? I checked my email, but I couldn't find anything. Will they email us the code on friday morning when tickets are available for the pre sale?

email with the code. I just meant I don't know if it takes a certain amount of time before the order goes through and they send out the email or if you'll get it right away.

I ordered mine today and got it around the same time as you. They maybe just do all the new ones in bulk rather than individually?

Knowing that I already have my ticket for an european concert, is there an advantage for me to buy a membership now? I still have to buy the album and was tempted to buy the bundle, but I doubt it is useful to me here in France: ?

Just opened my Funzone package and it made me feel kind of like that one gif of Jason Segel hugging a pillow which I couldn't find in the past 5 minutes.  They're so kind to us!

I'm also intrigued by this Zine thing.  I wonder when the first one will come out.

They did a perk on the summer leg because it had been ages since they had sent the original package and they had some extra T's to share.  We just got to Ts in our package so the answer to this is No for this leg.

I moved recently and I must say perhaps the only thing I was really worried about was my funzone merch and album and then my mom so sweet sent me the stuff and I got it last week. Here I am after my shower about to go to work in my new tee that peeked out of a blazer to say "hello hello."

If it's worth it to you.  The primary benefit was presale.  I was front row for all of my shows.  Now that the tour is over, obviously you lose that benefit.

tumblr says pictures of dead rabbits are included in the fanzine... thats pretty fucking crazy haha i love it!

Well I'm glad you love it.  You seem to be alone on that one.  Mine sat on my dining room table for two days before I even opened it.  I opened it, glanced at it and threw it down.  I can't handle that shit and that seems to be the consensus.

I haven't gotten the fanzine yet since they sent it to my old address(they could have given us a heads up so we could notify them of any address changes since it's been over a year, would have saved on postage but oh well). I thought it was a really fun idea but with it taking over a year to get and now hearing about the content I'm just not interested at all in seeing it. Very very disappointing. :-[

I finally got mine, I tore out the pages with the rabbit stuff on them. The rest of it is an interesting read but the rabbit stuff I just found gross and pointless.
