MGMT /kids /lost commercial. The bet is on!
« on: January 09, 2012, 07:00:39 AM »

Hi everyone on the forums.

This is a UK tv commercial question.  Someone somewhere has the answer :)

I was subjected, along with all other viewers back in mid 2010 to 2011, to a barrage of flirt, text line, dating, call girls in area...etc...etc... commercials on many of the freeview chanels aftet say 10pm.  They were evreywhere.

Anyway one particular ad had a girl dancing with a phone in the most rubbish night club in the cheesiest way imaginable and the ad was trying to get you to call or text...you get the idea.
In the background was Kids by MGMT and she was dancing to it in a sad sad way.
So.  I mention this to one of my teenager kids when he is playing Kids on itunes.  I say ( thinking smug dad joke) 'are you going to text her then??'.  ha ha ha...NO .....NOT ha ha ha because he doesnt know what I am on about?!.  So I explain.

Then comes the look of 'dad, you have gone mad' that only a teenage son can pull. "MGMT would never allow that" you are mistaken dad.
Ok I say let look at wiki for info....nothing.   google... nothing.

So i know it happened cos I had to be subjected to it for several commercial breaks.  My son does not believe me...Pride is at stake.

Now it could be that MGMT found out about the ads and banned the use of Kids or it is something they would rather not mention in Wiki.

So.. Please.. can someone confirm the ads happened??...Please???? someone out there knows the truth!!!!!!!!!!

I suspect it must have been something very short lived indeed-perhaps as you suggested, they were legally made to cease and desist. The reason I say this is that it's rare that someone hums an mgmt song in public and it's not reported here :)
