Peace and Love. We all share a common interest. The internet has room for all of us.heres something i saw on tumblr.... i sort of agree with this not 100% tho
anon: I really wish the forum was better! It's seems like mgmt blogs dislike the forum so it turns people away from. I think the more you turn people away from it the worse it will get. We should try to get a different type of atmosphere in there!!
bequickdear: I donít think that itís the fault of blogs. The Forum has been pretty exclusionary for years, and I know many people on Tumblr who have tried to become an active part of it and been rejected by the hardcore members for any number of stupid reasons. Itís very cliquish, and they always complain about Tumblr, which is hilarious.
Itís a shame, because it could be a really cool place where new fans could go to learn about the band and become a part of a community, especially since it is also a place where the band seems to feel comfortable occasionally talking to fans, but thatís just not the case at all.
They should talk to Fairtytale of Hurt about this. I'll address this just because I've been around for a long time. Five years ago, there was a bit of a feud between the forum and tumblr that started before I arrived. I think it started over "photo stealing." It went both ways and both forumers and bloggers were guilty of taking personal pics from one community and reposting them without credit. It's stupid really since most forumers have blogs. This all died out about 4 years ago. I've attended many MGMT shows with groups mixed with the tumblr fandom and forumers. In fact, the person who has the number 1 MGMT blog on tumblr has stayed at my house to attend a show with me-we're good friends. Anyone who still thinks that there is any animosity between the forum and tumblr currently is literally years behind the times. Most of the regulars on the forum (it sounds silly to even say because there has been so little activity lately) are active members of the MGMT tumblr fan forum. This is just not even worth mentioning, it's so outdated and silly. I personally put a great deal of effort, along with a lot of other hardcore super fans to put an end to this. There hasn't even been any mention of it in years.
