Music / Mad Scene Blip Another outburst from Unsinn
« on: May 26, 2012, 12:36:55 PM »
So . Szat time of year kids . Records popping up like daisies after the long months underground.
New out right about now is the first Mad Scene long player BLIP produced and mixed at MGMT's Blanker Unsinn wunder-spot .
If your a fan of the Clean , or Ladybug Transistor or Yo La Tengo then look no further . The aptly named band is a crazy conglom featuring Hamish Kilgour , Gary Olsen & Georgia Hubley alongside wfmu radio topcat indi-arbiter Brian Turner .
Hamish Kilgour also did logos and art working duties on the Brian eno / it's working 'fun zone ' (?!?) 7".
The 12 songs on the Siltbreeze.com vinyl release , mixed during the winter of 2010/11 make a rightly unhinged race of a record you'll be glad to spin at yr next sock hop or beach party .expect to find the corpses of t Rex , the who , the v.u. and more in the mornings jetsam...,....
      Nice.............
Pk. X

The Cheval Lp is killer . "Edgar  'debbie' books" haha appears on a bunch of the trax , percussion , guitar , tympani , guitar ,keys . Oh yeah , he was first digital door key in the orchestra too. Letting us into the mgmt lair and watching us remotely via satellites that kraftwerk sold to him after the recent collapse of the Kraut market . Many of Germany's  finest synths have bee lined for the U S of A to off their services ......,
Also present r dean Wareham (galaxie 500) Britta Phillips (congratulations Lp and remixes ) ,Gillian rivers (strings on Siberian breaks and Forest Elf aka the kidnap track or the audio sleeve nots trax ) plus some other dudes called Matt , James & benjaminski .

Maybe justmayb u might b able to find the Cheval Sombre Trensmat 7'' released (300 copies) in antisssssssipppippiapation of the new full length CS Lp  'mad love' out on the UK label sonic cathedral on vinyl Lp in August .
The   color vinyl  7" , was recorded by Nick Kramer + produced by sonIc boom and nick kramEr at MGMT s Brooklyn Blanker Unsinn sound pad  during the cold winter of 2010 and the sweet heatwave of 2011 . A bonsai of an Lp .succinct, tidy , beautiful and organic .
Rumours are that some of theridiculouslynamed folx on the record are intact butter noun to us as possibly normly named folks from Ohmygodsville USA .
Never the less , check out future Cheval sombre usual myfacebook type places .
A demain mes copain.  You'll dig it ,mebe save for a summer evening wane or morning spark .
       Good wishes

Wow Pete, it's really cool what you're doing here on the forum, letting us be a part of your world in a way. I know for me and plenty of other mgmt forum members, that music is such a vital part of our lives, and to get information like this directly form someone like you is truly a gift. As said before, most of us appreciate it very much - it can't even be expressed with words. I just feel like thanking you. So thank you!

...oh and this is wonderful news! (My fist thought was PAIGE!) Can't wait to hear it.

thats sweet . thank you . If I can be of use without pissing anyone off , then that's the essence , hopefully . My take is that u kids kind of live & breathe this stuff too , so ......
Strangely , I've ended up in this place of apparent 'privilege' . thru some unpredictable strangeness and magic that we call 'life' and if/when i can pass on a little joy .....

  hey ,
my pleasure . I know u guys dig the info & it seems harmless to me . a bit of karmic pay-back ......
If it's at least semi-sensible or.... funny........... AND relevant .....
I'll be up for it .....

so anyways....... mgmt

Everything good to those that wait.........eh ? I know thats a tuff call .....
.....talking of which......the press release at the start of this thread WAS passed long before I 'leaked' it by Panda Bear hesself ......regardless of what u might read from other sauces......

Sorry to take up your MGMT time with these mentions .
I dont feel thee Red Crayola for e.g. have been burned on the altar of press-overload ....
seems to me that it is a little relevant ....... think u'll find Andrew & Ben count all of these artists very highly too
dont think u were drug in here unawares ???? eh ??
lets share , like good children . I know this is a venting point for some , but that really does lower the tone . the fact i post here at all is definately relative to how much dissing /pissing  i see ...
How easy to post , but not so to re-tract .......
......only trying to post joys . apolagies if not to your taste......that'll come .
  pk                                                                                                                   xx

Please don't pay it any mind Pete-I don't even know who those people were.  As I always say, Joke 'em if the can't take a fuck.  Just the fact that you are who you are makes anything you post relevant.  I don't care if it was mixed in an outhouse in Alabama.  I'm not blowing smoke...I promise that I speak for 99.9% of the forum when I say, we are honored that you pop in and give us goodies.  Hipster Runoff shouldn't even still be relevant-I'm hoping it goes up in flames or down a wet spiral in a porcelain bowl.

xoxo-lala

it's all good . no-ones looking to take sides or rides .
please dont make wide assumptions about me . I dont .
Every day a new surprise...

SCHEHEREZADE
FRIENDSHIP BRACELET
AFTERBURNER

^these are brand new songs for me!!!
Could you tell me Pete, possibly, do any of these new songs above happen to feature a King Tubby sample?

I'm surprised also to see that the song 'Bullseye' featured on many live performances isn't on the album, perhaps it has a different title?

If you could tell us any more Pete, PLEASE DO. I would LOVE to hear what it was like working with Noah etc. I am a MASSIVE fan of Animal Collective and all related artists/side-projects.  :)

[/quote]

 heya -
yeah . correct . Bullseye is now called AFTERBURNER .
samples ?? surely not...... i'm SURE Noah did it all by his self ?? tschsch....
Slow Motion sounds like King Tubby in 7th heaven though.......I got into a tangle with a moisturizer spring reverb .....I'm not sure i'll ever be the same again ......
the mixes are sympatheyically drastically differant .
Noah sez he prefers them to his own mixes.........but , awww....i dunno .

Noah ? I cant make deceive I'm any authority really . long years , short months ,quick days ......... But , for my part he's been a sweetheart. Charming , generous , sensitive , intuitive .
   y'know , yer average wunderkind ........
He reminds me quite a lot of a couple of sweet guys not too far from here.......not to say they're identikit by ANY means .
But theres a je ne sais pas quoi going on . A spark .
I guess he very much lives up to the image u might have from his music .
Sometimes things are just THAT great....
Don't I have the best job in the world ???
My works a dream & my dreams are work .....

I had a motto instilled in me at school by the victorian architecht & medieaval revivalist -PUGIN - who had built the school i attended . Interwoven in the elaborate design were many 'truisms' -worthy of Jenny Holzer -the one that resounds to this day - WORK AS IF YOU WOULD LIVE FOR EVER ,LIVE AS IF YOU'D DIE TOMMORROW ..........
In that , I am immortal . And yet still Dieing
I love my work like I love my wife . I'd be nothing without either .

totally dig the bottle of wine  ;)
I think that that was the day we did the pics for the sleeve. looks like Andrew in the b/ground with his feet in the hot tub. the (remains of ) blossom on the floor was specially imported ,from the front garden , so we could enjoy it more. u can see Andrew's wet suits drying on the rocks in the back ground mid right .the wine was an average Riesling -I think its the same bottle i nurse on the lp artwork.
It's quite an art ,drinking and catamaran-skateboarding. they go together like up-dog & alligator wine .

oh finally I can post photos! this one is Andrew showing off a painting he drew over. My friend took it. :)

c'mon -u guys know a shark with a cold , A behatted & stoned frog with a J , multiple penii and a pirate prosthetic leg with james' 'dissed duck dude' groping Il froggo when u see it , right ??
Ofcourse, it's an andrew/james collab (on top of a piece of bland generic 'green room' art from the SF venue) .It made me laugh too...I confess tho' , u cant see 'the chick' until its reduced or you're improbably far away......It's at Blanker Unsinn.
