AH! in the new martiv rev interview the first cpomment is from noisey    "With MGMT's as-yet-untitled new album coming out later this year, we had the band's frontmen Andrew VanWyngarden and Benjamin Goldwasser sit down for a chat with Suicide's Martin Rev." BOOM! New album coming out later this year! This could be them just adding filler or a fuck up or the announcement?

i have to say i thought i was going to be more impressed. not that it wasn't good! But i expected something like "I just knew" or from of Montreal "lousy with sylvianbriar"... for some odd reason i thought they covered a song, i guess that was just one band who covered the killers.... but check out mystery disease's page for the songs.

i still wish their was a great quality recording of this.. who knows maybe the fanzine email was to hint at something along the lines of this!

There is a recording, however I'm not sure that they would share it as it was billed as a one time event.  The music is exquisite (I listen to it on the beach when I'm there <3) but it was only a part of the experience.  It stands alone to an extent, but the lights and of course the art installation where such a big part of it.  The DVD could only show so much of the experience :(
things like this makes me wish i was here during the circa :(

"I can hear Blonde Redhead's Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons and 23 in this album... Or am I just crazy?
I'm glad they're entering genres like EDM and house music and still staying in the 60's psychadellic realm with it. There was always that sort of flirty, flamboyant poetry thing with some 60's music I didn't like but MGMT not only pulls it off with style but they make it relevant for our time. Only other complaint is some of their sounds sound a little too movie soundtrack for my taste.
I really hope all of this great music lately, not to mention to accessibility of music in general, is going to spawn a generation of music to rival the best.... but maybe I'm just dreaming"

That was my third album review on this forum back in the day.
i think your usage of EDM and house music are a little off. i would place it under like psych-synth, rock pop. i also agree with the soundtrack aspect but i see that as a good thing; it has range and creates imagery. its funny how my taste in LP3 has changed. At first i was a little disappointed, expecting more of an alien days/ of moons feel. But recently ive been reading interviews and have a better understanding of where this album came from like the "Everything is not OK" article. the last two lines explain in all.

(Interviewer: It’s strange, but one of the most fitting lyrics on the new album that describes you as a band comes in your Faine Jade cover…

AVW: I know what you mean: “Striving for perfection / hiding when it comes.” ~)

so knowing the story behind it makes it.. make sense.
